About Saporito

Saporito began at our family’s kitchen table in Artena, a small mountain village in the Lazio region of Italy, where meals are not rushed and food is never separate from the people gathered around it. There, pasta is made by hand — flour scattered across wooden tables, dough rolled thin, tortelloni filled one by one. Amatriciana sauce simmers for hours, filling the house with a quiet promise of love. Crostata, torta della nona, Easter ciambella are shaped and dipped, wine biscuits are passed around with a glass already poured, and conversations stretch long into the afternoon.

Over the past 30 years of visiting family in Artena, I’ve found that it’s always the feeling of their home that has stayed with me even more than the food. The way wine flows through stories and songs. The way no one hurries to clear the table. The way a simple meal can hold generations of memory. It’s the delightful beauty in the combination of acceptance, patience, creativity, trust, understanding, guidance, strength, and care that has shaped and created the love I always feel with Paolo, Lucia, Francesca, Alessandro, and Roberto, our family.

Saporito was created to bring that feeling home.

Today, Saporito focuses on fresh, handmade pasta inspired by the traditions of Artena — sold at farmers markets and shared at intimate private gatherings. The pastas are simple, ingredients are seasonal, and rooted in old-world technique. The sauces are patient. The menus are thoughtful. Nothing is overcomplicated, and nothing is rushed.

This is food for ordinary days and meaningful nights. Food for busy families who want something real, that makes them slow down and enjoy the moment. Food for small celebrations and long conversations. Food that feels like someone cared enough to make it properly.

Saporito is not about trends or excess. It is about restraint, flavor, and connection. It is about honoring where these recipes come from and serving them with the same warmth as when they were first shared with me.

If you find yourself missing the comfort of a home-cooked meal, the sound of a table full of voices, the smell of cherished memories, or the slow rhythm of sauce simmering in the background — you’re in the right place.

There is always room at the table.
